Disability Awareness Training

Note Aug 2009: This material is valuable but dated. An updated page is here.

Here we will explore our attitudes toward people with disabilities. We will explode some myths about people with disabilities, and we will offer ways
to communicate with and assist those individuals. Everyone can benefit from this information, especially those of us who are involved with the public.

Two avenues for the training are offered here: viewing and listening. Both are beneficial and complement each other. You can also read and print a short summary, “Communication and Assistance for People with Disabilities.” In addition, links to various government agencies provide direct access to laws that protect people with disabilities from discrimination.
